About Steve

The Full Story (You Wish)

Steve calls St. Petersburg, Florida home, where he has lived since 1987. He has numerous “almost finished” projects (writers, right?) and several published works.

Before diving into the literary trenches, Steve worked in the military and then the government, primarily focused on counter-terrorism, which is just a fancy way of saying he spent years dealing with problems most people don’t pay attention to. Throughout 23 years in uniform and 22 more in civilian clothes chasing America's enemies across continents, Steve found time to pen a science fiction trilogy, a non-traditional vampire tale, a children's book, and a well stocked file cabinet of short stories. Along the way, he also published and edited a magazine about the St. Petersburg art scene. And while answering the call of duty, he found time to publish his serialized memoirs from his 2004 deployment in Iraq.

He picked up the pen again in 2017, after he resigned from what he euphemistically called his "big boy" job. In 2024 he joined a masterclass writer's workshop in Gulfport, Florida, and resurrected many of his forgotten works and has begun to publish them.

He is a 2024 award recipient of the Writer's Digest memoir/personal essay category for one of his short stories, Jocko's Gone.
